ALBERTON
Alberton was laid out on the farm Elandsfontein in 1904 and attained municipal status in 1939. Named after General Hendrik Abraham Alberts, chairman of the syndicate which purchased the farm in 1904.

First Alberton Cemetery
First Alberton Cemetery, cnr Hendrik Potgieter St & 9th Ave – the only part of the 1st Alberton cemetery site still existing. This cemetery was used from 1904 until 1908.
Meyer House
Meyer House, Fore St Ext – The farm house for the Meyers. An inlaid stone bears inscription JP Meyer, Klipriviersberg, October 31, 1891 with boumeester JM Kirton. This house is still occupied by the Meyers. The family cemetery is also situated on the farm. Johannes Petrus Meyer was a farmer and politician. Various places in the area was named after Meyer.
Vergelegen House
Vergelegen House – 7 Fick Rd, Florentia – Elandsfontein farm house. It belonged to Jan Meyer who build the house in 1904 which he called Vergelegen. Jan Meyer died in 1907 and was buried in the family graveyard. The house now form part of the Catholic church comple
