BEDFORDVIEW

Laid out on the farm Elandsfontein under the name Geldenhuis Estate Small Holdings. The name was changed on 4 February 1926 to Bedfordview, after Bedford Farm, the property of Sir George Farrer, which could be seen from there.

 Sir George Farrar Memorial – Milner ave St Andrews – The grave of Colonel Sir George Herbert Farrer Baronet – 17 June 1859- 20 May 1915 – the owner of Bedford Farm. Main shareholder of the ERPM gold mines. Leader of the opposition in the Transvaal assembly and Member of the Parliament of the Union of South Africa. Was created a baronet on 2 February 1911.  He was in active service during the War 1914-1918. He was in charge of the restoration of the railway. He died when his motor trolley collided with a train at Kubis Namibia. His dog Togo was buried next to him.
