Belfast

It was established in 1890 on the farm Tweefontein. Named after Belfast in Ireland, birthplace of the father of Richard C O’Neill, owner of Tweefontein. Became a municipality in 1966. On 24 August 1900 the British occupied the town.
Berg-en-dal Monument
Berg-en-dal Monument – N4 between Belfast and Machadodorp – This monument commemorates the burghers who was killed during the Battle of Berg-en-Dal in August 1900 in the 2nd Anglo Boer War. This Monument was unveiled in 1970. The Cairn known as the Rifle Brigade Memorial commemorates the British soldiers who lost their lives in this battle.
Covenant Monument
Covenant Monument – on R540 to Dullstroom on the Winnaarspoort Rd – obelisk was erected in 1886 to commemorate the vow taken in 1838 by Voortrekker leader Andries Pretorius shortly before the Battle of Blood River. The monument was destroyed during the ABW and rebuilt in 1905.
NG Church
NG Church – De Clerq st – designed by JR Burg in 1914 . The cornerstone was laid by Commandant General CF Beyers on 24 April 1914.
First school /church
First school /church – Du Plooy st – on the church grounds – This building served as a school for children from the concentration camp during the 2nd ABW. Currently serve as a museum.
Burgher Memorial
Burgher Memorial – De Clerq st – on the grounds of the Old Aged Home – this memorial was erected by the Burghers of the Belfast district to commemorates the Burghers who died in the war
Police Station
Police Station – Scheepers st – This building was the Police Office during the 2nd ABW. It also served as the Magistrate’s office
Town Hall
Town Hall – built in 1933 – destroyed by fire.
Duvoison’s shop
Duvoison’s shop – this was a trading post. Apparently, President Kruger held many meetings in this building before the war.
Steam Roller
Steam Roller, Vermooten st – This steam roller was used on the roads.The agents was Blane & Co from Johannesburg
Corrugated buildings
Corrugated buildings, Boult st cnr Voortrekker St - these buildings were erected by the British during the war and used as barracks.
Anglo Boer War Cemetery
Anglo Boer War Cemetery – gravel rd just off West St between Scheepers and Voortrekker St -   a British Garden of Remembrance containing graves of 47 Imperial soldiers.
Gaol
Gaol – Church Street. The concentration camp was opposite this gaol.
