Edenvale

It was laid out on the farm Rietfontein in 1903 and became a municipality in 1942. Probably named after one of the owners of the farm, John Eden.
Horwood farmhouse
Horwood farmhouse – Homestead Rd – The property was bought in 1903 by a Roman Catholic priest Father John de Lacy on behalf of the church. He was to establish a church, school and teacher houses in Johannesburg. In 1919 the property was sold to Daniel William Horwood. The house started as a two-roomed cottage with a central hall.
