FOCHVILLE

It was laid out on the farms Kraalkop and Leeuspruit. Proclaimed on 15 November 1920. It was named after Marshall Ferdinand Foch (1851-1929), Commander -in-Chief of the Allied Forces in France during the First World War.
Monument Danie Theron
Monument Danie Theron – 8 km West of Fochville on N12 – erected on a koppie. This commemorative monument of 24 meters was for the Boer Scout, Danie Theron. This was erected on the site where he was killed by a sliver of an artillery shell on 5 September 1900. He was fighting on his own against a British artillery company. The top of then monument represent a symbolic torch of freedom. He was buried in Eikenhof.
