Haenertsburg
Named after Carl Ferdinand Haenert who came from Germany in 1857 and discovered gold in the area. Once was the centre of the Woodbush Gold Fields. This village was proclaimed in 1887 as the centre of the ‘Houitboschberg-goudvelden’.
Haenertsburg War Memorial
Haenertsburg War Memorial – Long Tom Monument – exhibited are the remains of the last Long Tom Canon that was destroyed on 30 April 1901 on Rondebult near the town. This was a Creusot canon used by the Boers during the Anglo Boer War. The memorial also depicts the different wars in the area – the Makgoba War, ABW, WW1 and WW11
John Buchan memorial
John Buchan memorial – overlooking the valley and Ebenezer Dam – John Buchan (1875-1940) a novelist depicting the scenery and stories of the Magoebaskloof area. Prestor John was one of his well known books.
Original Dwelling
Original dwelling, Rissik St - one of the original dwellings remained in the town in the early years. Now a bookshop.
