Slangkoppunt Lighthouse
Slangkoppunt Lighthouse – Lighthouse Rd – Was established as a result of findings of the lighthouse commission appointed in 1906 by Sir Francis Hely-Hutchinson, Governor of the Cape. The cast iron tower was erected in 1914 but due to the Great War (1914-1918) it was only commissioned on 4th March 1919. The lighting was performed By HC Cooper’s daughter, Esly Cooper. This is the tallest tower on the South African coast.
