• Old Mission House, Wilhelm Zeraua st – The oldest building in town, dated 1871. A portion was built in 1868 by the Evangelist Daniel Cloete. In 1870 Rev Viehe erected a house directly next to the existing portion. Here in 1874 Rev Viehe translated the New Testament, the Liturgical prayers and the Catechism into the Herero language, and thereby Herero elevated to a written language. Between 1887 and 1900 Rev Eduard Dannert joint the two buildings into one. It became a museum on 16 January 1991. Proclaimed a national monument on 15 January 1986.
