Laid out on the farm Doornfontein in 1891 and named after the surveyor, GA Troye (1860-1930)
Fairview Fire Tower,
Fairview Fire Tower, Cnr Commissioner and Crown Str – the cornerstone for the tower was laid in 1905 by Julius Jeppe. By 1982 the new Fairview Fire Station opened on the same site. Only the original fireman’s tower remains of the original fire station.
NG Church,
NG Church, 84 Op De Bergen St. The cornerstone was laid on 5 May 1906 by General Koos de la Rey.
St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church
St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 374 Commissioner st – The cornerstone was laid by sir Arlton Lawley, Lt General of the Transvaal on 21October 1903. The building was dedicated on 19 February 1904.
Troyville House
Troyville House, Cnr Clarence & Pretoria – Built in 1902 for KB de Kok. Bought by the Salvation Army in 1926 and for 60 years it was their training school. The last private owner was Jennifer Ferguson, singer and activist.

Babtist Church. Cnr Dawe & Beelaerts St – Built in 1909. Designed by architect Alan Monsbourgh. The spire was erected in 1911.

Gandhi House
Gandhi House, 11 Albemarle St – This was the family home for Mohandas K Ghandi, a lawyer, activist and later Prime Minister of India. He stayed here with his wife in Kasturba and three sons in 1904-1906. They shared the house with Henry Pollak, friend and colleague in his law office.

 House cnr Albemarle & Nourse St – previously believed to be the house where Gandhi was staying. This house was declared a national monument. 
David Webster’s House
David Webster’s House, 13 Eleanor St – David Webster (19 Dec 1945-1 May 1989), an anthropologist, was assassinated here for his fight against apartheid in 1989. He lived here from 1986. The house has been decorated with designs made from tiles by a community of his friends under the guidance of Ilse Pahl. The house was declared a Heritage site in 2012.
